Ben Nakamura

I am excited to begin my second year here as principal of John W. North High School. I love your school, staff, students and families! We have the best school and are only going to become better with each year. I'm doing my best to make everyone proud and ensure that all our students are supported and safe. My goal is that all our students reach their fullest potentials and become their best selves.

I am your principal and am here to serve and lead you. If you have any questions or need any help, please do not hesitate to ask me. I can be found running around campus during the school day and in my office in the early mornings and late afternoons.

Eric Johnson

Mr. Johnson is excited to be a part of the John W. North High School Administrative Team as we embark on the 2019-2020 school year.  He brings with him 23 years of experience in public education.  He has served in various roles as a high school teacher, athletic director, coach, and club advisor. He has served  for the last 13 years as an administrator with responsibilities in various areas such as athletics, activities, facilities, interventions, discipline, and attendance.  

Mr. Johnson strongly believes in servant leadership and supporting all stakeholders in the school community.  He believes educators should strive to teach, coach, counsel, and mentor the students they serve.  Mr. Johnson embraces his role as an assistant instructional leader and supporter of the mission and vision of North High School.

Steve Bernard

Mr. Bernard is eager to begin his second year as assistant principal of athletics and facilities here at John W. North High School. He brings a rich background that includes developing academic and athletic programs, serving as an intervention specialist, as a high school dean of discipline, and also a classroom teacher. These diverse skill sets guide his leadership in building student athletes who exhibit the three pillars of character of trustworthiness, citizenship and respect.

Mr. Bernard is known as a conscientious team player who is proactive in building relationships and promoting school and student achievement. Some of his accomplishments include Press Enterprise Coach of the Year, Norm Mackenzie Award from the California State Athletic Directors Association, redesigning a high school discipline policy that led to the California Gold Ribbon Recognition, and instituted an intervention program modeled after restorative practices to provide behavioral and emotional support and success for students.

Jodi Gonzales

Mrs. Gonzales began serving in RUSD in 2001 and is entering her 1st year as Assistant Principal of Curriculum & Guidance here at North. Previously, she served as a classroom teacher and Assistant Principal at Ramona and Poly High School and as an Instructional Services Specialist at the district level within RUSD.

Mrs. Gonzales earned a Bachelor's Degree in Hispanic Studies and Secondary Education from Mount Saint Mary College (Newburgh, NY) and a Master's Degree in Educational Administration from California State University, San Bernardino. 

Her husband is also an educator and their children attend RUSD schools.
